The National Employment Rights Authority (NERA) had commenced inspections of companies employing Door Security Personnel (DSP) and were applying the terms and conditions of the Guarding Services Employment Regulation Order to that discipline. The Irish Security Industry Association disputed this with NERA but, finally, had to resort to seeking a determiation from the Labour Court..
Mary Hanafin, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Innovation today (8th February 2011) announced that the Government had, in line with its commitment in the National Recovery Plan, 2011 – 2014, established an independent review of the framework of statutory wage setting mechanisms known as Employment Regulation Orders (ERO) and Registered Employment Agreement (REA). The review is also a commitment under the provisions of the joint EU-IMF Programme for Ireland. The Government has requested that the review be completed within a short timeframe - approximately six weeks from the closing date for submissions from interested parties....
