ISIA QUALITY ASSURANCE SCHEME

QUALSEC STANDARD

The ISIA has always been at the forefront of raising quality standards. The underlying ethos of the Irish Security Industry Association is based around codes of practice, standards and quality service to which members must sign up and adhere. The introduction of licensing has set minimum standards for the security industry and is a first step towards the establishment of a professional industry. However, the ISIA believes that a minimum standard is only a starting point and is determined to raise the bar. To this end, a new continuous improvement quality scheme, QUALSEC, has been introduced.

QUALSEC is a new continuous improvement quality scheme managed and monitored independently by Insight Certification Limited, trading as the CerticCS, and which only ISIA members can attain. The scheme operates on a three tier approach through which member companies can attain a Silver, Gold or Platinum standard.

The Silver award is the standard which all member companies must achieve and is the seal of approval which will guarantee customers a professional, quality-driven security provider. To achieve the Silver award, companies must comply with 37 criteria which cover licensing, staffing/human resource issues, financial/accounting procedures, training and customer satisfaction procedures. The Gold standard includes an additional 15 criteria which enhances the categories covered in the Silver award and in turn the Platinum level expects an additional 5 criteria which includes accredited ISO 9001:2000 certification, Excellence through People, Corporate & Social Responsibility policy etc

The Association has adopted a three-tier, continuous improvement approach because it believes that quality is a dynamic component of any business which should be entrenched in every aspect of the day-to-day operation. Companies should always strive to improve the quality of their service and the ISIA feel that the Silver, Gold and Platinum levels provide the focus for it’s members to do so. The scheme also allows member companies to position themselves according to their own operation and marketplace. Some companies may not need to progress to the Gold or Platinum levels but having attained the Silver standard, they will have positioned themselves at a higher level than non-ISIA member companies and confirmed their position among the top security companies in Ireland. Additionally, member companies will be audited annually so the onus is on them to ensure that their quality standards do not slip.

A key player in the establishment of a professional security industry is the end-user. When customers demand high standards, suppliers must step up to the mark. The launch of QUALSEC has set a new standard which customers should now insist on. The Association has created a very distinctive logo for QUALSEC which it is envisaged will become the quality mark for the security industry. The Association would encourage customers to look for this mark when they are choosing a security provider and only choose those security companies who have attained the QUALSEC standard. The Association would hope that through customers demanding QUALSEC, they will help raise the overall standards of the security industry
