The very deserving winner of the ISIA Community of the Year Award was Marie Corcoran from Portarlington.
        
She gives of her free time to a range of local voluntary organisations such as: The Special Olympics, Mental Health Association, Wheelchair Association, Senior Citizens, Travelling Community, Lourdes Invalid Committee and the Local Teen Helpline. One of the many nominators said, “She has an innate empathy, caring and concern for people, especially those with physical, psychiatric and social needs. I have never heard her complain about anything thrown at her in her own life”.
        
This year’s winner of the ISIA Community Person of the Year Award is such a deserving recipient. She hails from Portarlington and dedicates her life to a range of local charity organisations. She gives of her time to the local such organisations as, Special Olympics, Mental Health Association, Wheelchair Association, Senior Citizens, Travelling Community, Lourdes Invalid Committee and the local teen helpline. We have had so many different and outstandingly complimentary recommendations for this person. One nominator said, “She has as innate empathy, caring and concern for people, especially those with physical psychiatric and social needs. I have never heard her complain about anything life has thrown at her in her own life”.

Mental Health has always been Marie's main cause throughout her charitable years but it is only one of the many organisations she has been involved in over the years.

- She is manager of the "Saoirse Care" charitable shop in Portarlington
- She is the chairperson of The Portarlington Mental Health Association
- She is a committee member of The Portarlington Special Olympics
- She is a committee member of the Laois Wheelchair Association
- She is chairperson of the Portarlington Senior Citizens
- She is a committee member of the Travelling Community Association in Portarlington
- She is the Honorary Secretary of the Lourdes Invalid Committee, Portarlington
