The private security industry in Ireland is regulated by the Private Security Authority and licensed under the Private Security Services Act 2004. Most areas of the private security industry have been licensed, but not all.

The Irish Security Industry Association has its own requirements and standards that security company members must meet. Members of certain division are required to hold Qualsec, the ISIA’s own quality standard. The requirements of the ISIA exceed the minimum legislative requirements of licensing and provide customers of ISIA member companies with confidence that they are receiving the best possible service.
